Sunrise! I’m gonna praise His name…

Thank you for sticking with me in this crisis of ftps and other things I don’t understand. I did go home last weekend and had a good time. However when I came back, my updating thing didn’t work. It lets me know that the little things of this world (no matter how big or expensive) will always fail us while God is sovereign and never will.

God, creator and caretaker of the universe, out of pure unconditional heart love, bestowed to us part of Himself, His only Son, so that anyone that puts their faith and life into His hands, will not be eternally separated from Him, but restored into the family relationship and communion forever. So, if in the past two weeks you have checked that writing poems thing I showed you, then you would know that I’m trying to reorganize my thinking. I want to be driven by the love and compassion of Jesus. Wonderfully, the church’s lesson today was about de-clicheing John 3:16. No longer am I to simply treat it as the summation of the Gospels or say how slow Nicodemus was to ask obviously dumb questions in the first place. We are to live that Truth anew every day knowing always that even such a well known verse will not be fully understood until heaven.

So I promised at least one story from the weekend home. I went home for two main reasons: 1)I’m not coming home spring break so I wouldn’t see anyone until like April & 2)It was Valentine Weekend and I had a Honey to attend to. So I get home Friday night and hang with a couple of peeps and see my family a little bit. Then I hit the hay relatively early. I woke up at 5:40 am, shaved, and hopped in my car for a short drive to Asbury College where Amy goes. When I get there it’s pitch black and cold. I pull up into the parking lot and there is this security guy just sitting there in his car looking at me. Amazingly Amy comes walking out of her building right then and there. She had seen this guy driving around and was worried I’d get in trouble (this is a small christian school mind you). So there she is struttin’ her stuff lookin’ all sweet and beautiful walkin’ which way? Oh yeah, to me! RIGHT. So, then we drove off to a hilly back road and parked at the side where we had an open view of the East. By this time the horizon was faintly glowing. We stayed there for over an hour and then went to her house where her Mom had made her favorite breakfast (yes, I set this up too). We were then going to watch Finding Nemo, but alas it wasn’t at the house that day. So, we watched a home video of her at that hilariously cute stage where you’re like two feet tall and fall down alot and then some old adventures of Winnie the Pooh. At about 11 we went to my house where we changed into nice clothes for our special meal of the day. We ate at this very nice restaurant and had wonderful cheeseburgers. Some of you may think that is a waste to order something so plain at a place so nice. Well not when the cheeseburger is what you truly want. After the long and wonderful lunch, we went back to my house for chiling and napping. When you wake up so stinkin’ early it is greatly desired in the afternoon. (Have I mentioned that everything we did this day was either her favorite or one of, which includes naps) At this point we drove around a bit. I took her to a dollar store and told her to pick out three things. Then we met my Dad and sister Katie at this pizza place. Then we went back to Asbury because Amy was performing in a freshman talent show with her friend Alicia. We were then separated for nearly an hour so she could practice. She was the third act so we got to watch most of the show together. She and Alicia did very well both playing guitars and singing harmony for a song Alicia wrote. It was a long program and afterwards she was very thirsty. So I took her to Wal-Mart and got her the Gatorade she most desired in the whole world. She was spending the night at her house so we went back there and enjoyed a fire we made for a while. I called it a night and left her to go to sleep myself. Intermittenly throughout the day, I gave her little presents. For all you fellows out there, this is a good method and I highly recommend it. This was her day and I loved trying to surprise and overwhelm her. That, ladies and gentlemen, is the purpose of Valentine’s Day.

This week I got a B!!! on a spanish test, passed the 100,000 mile mark in my car, slept alot, saw a collection of one act plays here at UVa, nearly finished the Two Towers (book), and started sending out support letters for my summer trip to Guatemala. If you have any questions about my trip or if you would like to help out, email me at d-well1@juno.com and I’ll get back to you pronto.
